Regan Pens Letter Urging Toomey and Casey to Confirm Judge Neil Gorsuch

HARRISBURG (March 28, 2017) In a joint letter signed by 32 members of their Caucus, state Senate Republicans urged U.S. Senators Pat Toomey (R) and Bob Casey (D) to approve the nomination of Judge Neil Gorsuch for the U.S. Supreme Court as soon as possible.

The Caucus letter, which was written and circulated by Sen. Mike Regan (R-Cumberland and York), said, “Judge Gorsuch’s credentials are unparalleled and beyond dispute.”

The brief letter also maintained that, “His reputation as a brilliant, principled and fair-minded jurist make him a candidate worthy of your confirmation.”

Sen. Regan said he decided to send the letter– which was also sent to Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Minority Leader Charles Schumer, Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley, and Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein– when he saw the dangers of inaction and obstructionism.

“Judge Gorsuch would be an exemplary Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, and we thought it was important for our federal representatives to know the level of support we have for him here in Pennsylvania.  We certainly hope our letter will have a positive impact on the confirmation process.”
