(CAMP HILL, PA) – Yesterday Judge Ellen Ceisler of the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania granted a preliminary injunction application to halt any further action by PennDOT to toll the I-83 South Bridge.
The petition was filed by Cumberland County and local municipalities including: Camp Hill Borough, Wormleysburg Borough, Lemoyne Borough, New Cumberland Borough, Lower Allen Township, East Pennsboro Township and West Hanover Township (Dauphin County).
“When PennDOT proposed its egregious bridge tolling plan in early 2021, I adamantly and publicly opposed it. Judge Ceisler’s order reinforces that this proposal by the Wolf Administration circumvented the legislative process and would amount to hundreds if not thousands of dollars imposed on individual drivers that use the I-83 South Bridge daily during a given year.
“I would like to thank Cumberland County and the local municipalities for standing up and fighting this tax increase. The court injunction is a great first step in making sure that PennDOT is prohibited in perpetuity from imposing unfair and illegal taxation without the consent of the legislature.”
